Great Lakes and Great Universities

Michigan is known as the Great Lakes State and is unique in that it consists of two peninsulas completely separated by water. The Upper Peninsula is known for its natural beauty and wildness, while the Lower Peninsula is known for its industrial development. No matter where you are in the State, you are no more than fifty miles away from one of the Great Lakes.

Michigan boasts over 60 private and 45 public institutions of higher education. Each university has history and traditions that tie back to early history of the State along with its Great Lakes.
